I have just started to scratch the surface on research and currently am working to apply for an IDDRC grant to help study neurodivergent individuals and the need for modified driving programs. IDD is a huge foundational component of the work that I do as an Occupational therapist. I have been in the OT field 10+ years and along the way have found limitations in evaluation tools as well as, really focused in on how to approach treatment or using therapeutic use of self to accomplish goals with individuals that have a different way of thinking or learning. I would love the chance to create more research opportunities to bridge the gaps in occupational therapy evaluation tools as well as treatment to better serve this population while facilitating as much independent as possible.
