Biography

Alexander Bassuk, MD, PhD is Chair of the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, and a pediatric neurologist.  His laboratory focuses on the neuroanatomy, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and genetic mechanisms in human diseases and animal models. He has trained multiple medical students, resident and fellow researchers, and graduated three PhD students. He has served as the recruiter for The University of Iowa's Child Health Research Career Development Award since 2011 and is currently the Director of the University of Iowa CTSA-KL2 program. He is involved with under-represented minority (URM) recruiting at all levels at the University of Iowa and was recently appointed Physician-in-Chief of Stead Family Children's Hospital.
