Biography

As a clinician Dr. Moreno is a member of the Cleft Palate Team of the University of Iowa and also coordinates the orthodontic care of children with craniofacial anomalies and provides clinic instruction to orthodontic residents on the care for these patients in the clinic floor. As a researcher Dr. Moreno is investigating the genetic contributors to normal and abnormal craniofacial and dental features especially those present in patients with craniofacial anomalies such as orofacial clefting, moderate to severe malocclusion, and Ectodermal Dysplasia. The identification of the genetic factors that account for the abnormal craniofacial features present in patients with these conditions will help understand the etiology of these anomalies, design preventive therapies, and develop more effective treatment modalities.
