Nicole Yeager
Nicole comes from the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa, where she worked closely with Dr. Grazyna Kochanska on a longitudinal study to investigate the social and emotional development of children from an attachment framework. In this position, Nicole developed particular expertise on qualities of parent-child relationships and attachment, as well as moral development and emotional reactivity. Nicole is interested in understanding how differential susceptibility and individual differences may inform current and future paths of therapy. She is also fascinated by factors such as parental stress and self-conscious emotions (e.g., guilt, shame) that may influence parents' internal representations of children. She hopes to one day interweave her research interests with applied psychology to collaborate across disciplines to improve treatment outcomes for children and families, particularly those in underserved communities. Nicole is thrilled to work with Dr. Lane Strathearn and his brilliant collaborators at the Hawk-IDDRC and Iowa Neuroscience Institute, where she is seeing firsthand the potential of interdisciplinary research in healthcare settings to improve outcomes for families.
