Biography

I have been studying how early-life adversities (e.g., prenatal exposure to alcohol or valproic acid, and postnatal exposure to stress in a sensitive period, like adolescence) contribute to developmental disorders, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD), using research methods including ex vivo electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, and operant behavioral tests. I also explore using early intervention approaches, such as neonatal handling and environmental enrichment, to help ameliorate symptoms of developmental disorders.
