Biography

Dr. Scholz has been on faculty at The University of Iowa since 1993. He has held several leadership positions at Iowa including serving as Interim Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and Physician-in-Chief of the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital from 2011-2013 and a Faculty Fellow in the Office of the Vice President of Research and Economic Development from 2013-2016. He currently serves as Director, Division of Child and Community Health, and Professor, Department of Pediatrics where he oversees grants and contracts totaling close to $10 million per year to support care coordination and services for children and youth with special health care needs. He serves on a number of state and federal committees including the Iowa Maternal and Child Health Advisory Council, Iowa’s Early ACCESS Advisory Council, the Iowa Department of Human Services Medical Assistance Advisory Council, and Chair of the Communications Committee for the Pediatric Academic Society.
