PhD student, Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Genetics, Iowa Neuroscience Institute, Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology, Carver College of Medicine
Biography

I am currently a third year PhD student in the Genetics program which is providing me an interdisciplinary computational genetics background that allows me to combine different fields like genetics, computer science, bioinformatics and statistics to analyze and interpret biological data which will be ideal for the development of my career. During my time I have spent in Dr Abel’s lab, I have analyzed bulk RNA-seq, bulk ATAC-seq, snRNA-seq, snATAC-seq, SPLIT-seq, ChIP-seq and spatial transcriptomic data from multiple mouse brain regions such hippocampus and cortex. I have been integral in the different high throughput sequencing analyses and preparation of figures which have allowed me to become an author in the Molecular Brain journal and more recently in Science Advances. I have also analyzed single nuclei RNA-seq from autism mouse model carrying the 16p11.2 hemideletion and I am currently writing a manuscript. Finally, I have also analyzed Visium Spatial Gene Expression data from our sleep deprived mouse model and I am currently writing a manuscript. I am also helping to write a manuscript including Visium Spatial Gene Expression and ATAC-seq data from mice who followed a special object recognition task to uncover specific transcriptomic and epigenetic signatures following memory consolidation.
